Ningxia Medallion
7.45 feet×10.5 feet
Made in 2006 by Caravan Classics based on an early Qing carpet,
which is a typical example of classical Chinese design.
The medallion in the center is made up of hook-shaped patterns,
and similar practices can first be seen in Chinese bronzes.
White lotus flowers are regularly arranged on the field and also on the small border.
The weaving of the flower center simulates the technique in Chinese painting,
forming different shades from red to milky white.
The overall design is harmonious and fully demonstrates the formal characteristics of Confucian aesthetics.
The re-created work retains the design details of the original work
as much as possible and has made a new color interpretation.
